Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How long does an asbestos awareness certificate last?
A: There is no formal expiration for an awareness certificate. However, it is recommended to refresh your knowledge every 2–3 years or whenever workplace procedures are updated.
Is asbestos awareness training a legal requirement?
A: Yes. In Australia, workers who may come into contact with asbestos are required to complete asbestos awareness training under workplace health and safety regulations. This course helps meet those awareness obligations.
Can I remove asbestos without a license?
A: Generally, no. Only licensed asbestos removalists can legally remove friable asbestos. However, in Australia, you are allowed to remove non-friable (bonded) asbestos yourself if the area is less than 10 square meters. Even then, you must follow strict safety procedures, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and dispose of the material according to regulations. This course provides awareness and safety knowledge but does not give a license to remove asbestos.
